The United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee will hold the investiture ceremony for Luke A. Evans as United States Magistrate Judge on May 14 at 3:30 p.m., according to a May 5 announcement. The event will take place in Courtroom 6B of the Fred D. Thompson United States Courthouse and Federal Building at 719 Church Street, Nashville, Tennessee. A reception is planned following the ceremony, and members of both the bar and public are invited to attend.
Evans was appointed magistrate judge on February 4, after serving as a senior partner with Evans, Bulloch & Parker, PLLC in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He spent much of his career focused on criminal defense work in state and federal courts throughout Tennessee.
Before entering private practice, Evans worked as an Assistant District Attorney General for the Thirtieth Judicial District in Memphis, Shelby County. His experience also includes civil litigation with a focus on civil rights cases in both state and federal courts. Additionally, he maintained an active family law practice involving divorce and child custody matters.
Evans graduated from the University of Memphis School of Law in 2004 and is a member of the Tennessee Bar. He is admitted to practice before all three federal district courts in Tennessee—the Middle, Eastern, and Western districts—as well as the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
The court’s invitation to members of both legal community and public reflects its commitment to transparency during important judicial appointments.
